Did you know that traditional Chinese Martial Arts are divinely inspired and far superior to the so-called new Martial Arts taught in society nowadays?
First and foremost, traditional martial arts emphasize martial virtue. Martial virtue means to know good from evil and to believe that the divine rewards good deeds and punishes evil deeds. Martial virtue means not bullying benign folks and not bowing to hostile forces and acting courageously to uphold justice, protect the innocent, and stop evil. Ancient people who established martial arts regarded the ability to subdue opponents without fighting as the highest realm of martial arts. Hence, the Chinese martial character: to stop war “止戈.” Accordingly, martial arts practitioners were taught to stop attacking when opponents surrender and not harm or kill opponents who surrender.
The practice of traditional martial arts will strengthen one’s endurance, perseverance, and selflessness; it will also cultivate one’s righteousness to protect good people and stop evil. These will, in turn, benefit the practitioner of martial arts physically and mentally. Additionally, if one can let go of selfish desires and enlighten to the laws of the universe, one can reach higher realms.
After the Chinese Communist Party took over China in 1949, it arrested and persecuted numerous Kung Fu masters, closed down traditional martial arts centers, and thus destroyed traditional teachings of martial arts. Some superficial martial arts movements and postures were used to choreograph “new martial arts” performances and exercise routines to teach middle and elementary students. When interviewed by reporters from Taiwan, Mr. Youfu Li, the judge of the Martial Arts Competition, pointed out, “The new martial arts in society nowadays are not passed down by masters and do not have a systematic theory or traditional values. Thus, the new martial arts are warped martial arts.”
Traditional Chinese martial arts are at the brink of extinction. It is to revive and promote traditional martial arts and enable more people to benefit from practicing traditional martial arts that NTDTV organizes the Traditional Chinese Martial Arts competition.
The lofty inspiration of NTDTV Traditional Chinese Martial Arts competition cannot be accomplished without your generous contribution.
